Finished boxing in one half of the body to the chassis. The two floor panels are my repairs, all the stuff at the top is one of the dozen or so previous owners. From my incredibly rough maths, this should increase chassis stiffness to ~140% of its original stiffness, 10% more than just solid-mounting :) might even be more as I did all of that before I welded the hardtop to it!
Also, found the problem with the MX-5. This is what the spigot bearing looked like:
It’s all back together now which is not bad going :) less than 2 days’ work to swap the clutch. Gotta love FR cars :)

That’s a whole lot of welding right there, seeing stuff like this I wish I knew how to weld.

You should definitely give it a go :) it’s easy enough to get good enough to pass muster with a bit of practice.
Go buy a €100 rust-bucket and give it a go ;)
